In flatbed knitting the yarn is pulled to and fro by a yarn carriage over the needle bed, the bed being a metal surface with a row of hooked needles. The width, contrary to circular knitting, can be altered at your own choice.
A double bed knitting machine has 2 beds of needles in an inverted āVā
This enables knitting between both beds. and can create a kind of circular knit.
