Yarn

alpaca

The raw material for Alpaca yarn comes from the mountain llama that live on the plains in the Western part of south America. The animal has woolly longhair, varying in colour from ecru to deep dark brown. The special characteristic of this wool is that the fibre is hollow, which enables it to store heat effectively, and it is also very soft.

Inspiration
Product

I wanted to develop a very soft carpet. By tufting this yarn in a short loop, it looks like felt, which gives it, apart from the super soft-, also a business-like appearance: hard and yet soft.

I also designed a scarf with this yarn. Here a sample with the different intersections.

Development

Single yarn is twined, or wound around, but not twisted with a second yarn.

I would like to publish a book,
a book with much more information
about industrial textile
techniques.

Do you think that is a good idea?

Please be so kind as to make a
contribution before you print.
