Tufting

Shrek

Shrek was the most famous New Zealand sheep that got lost. The animal escaped and lived in the wild for 6 years before he was found. After shearing the wool weighed 60 kilos. Shrek lived to be 16.

Inspiration

A closely tufted loop using bouclé , or loop yarn, gives the appearance of sheepskin.

Product

Interesting effect of the bouclé yarn when cut, is that loose, curly fibres come to the surface of the pile.

Development

Tufting is a technique in which a tufting needle and/or a tufting gun by means of compressed air is pitted or shot through cloth. At the back of the cloth a loop pile is formed that can also be cut.
The pile always has to be fixed to the cloth, because otherwise you could pull the thread right out again. The fixation is usually done by means of latex.
