Yarn

astrakan

Astrakan is the coat of a new-born lamb, with a fine, uneven, curly pile. This effect I tried to imitate with a loop- or bouclé yarn.

Inspiration
Product

The loops can take any shape, all depending on the thickness and strength of the yarn.

A sample where the binding thread is of a different colour. By cutting the pile of the sample in places, one colour comes out/is revealed.

Development

A bouclé yarn is created by twisting two yarns together, whereby one yarn is fed faster than the other so that loops are formed. Then the loop is fixed with a third thread.
