Weaving
Chanel
This is my translation of a tweed used in a Chanel two-piece into carpet.
Use was made of a bouclé yarn in a plain weave, alternating with a smooth yarn to provide room for the thickening in the yarn.
For weaving you need a warp and a weft. The warp is wound in one or more different colours.
Each warp thread subsequently passes through a heddle bar, an eyelet in a shaft, and then through a reed. The shafts then move up or down leaving room for the weft thread to pass through. The shafts that move the warp threads up or down determine the final pattern.
A Bouclé yarn is twined on a fancy twisting machine. The thickening in the yarn is realised by twining 2 yarns, one of which is fed more quickly than the other. Subsequently the loop is fixed with a third yarn. The variations are endless.
